Non-EU citizen: EXIST Business Start-up Grant?

Frage

I am a Non-EU citizen currently pursuing research career at a university in Germany. Me and my German colleague would like to seek EXIST-funding for our new startup. I have finished my Master's Degree in Belgium and Bachelor's degree in India. Currently I am pursuing my research assistant job at a German university and I am willing to take a year sabbatical to start the company. I have the German residence permit and work permit. Which documents should I present to the EXIST-Foundation for approval for 1 year scholarship? My German colleague has no problem and the University is willing to support the business idea and provide necessary IT-infrastructure for a year. Only concern is with me, since I am a Non-EU citizen. None of my colleagues know how to proceed and submit my application to EXIST. If you recommend some suggestion I would be thankful for your help.

Antwort

Citizenship is not important when applying for an EXIST Business Start-up Grant – even being part of an international team. Non-EU citizen have the same chance for receiving funding, if they have finished a university degree and own a residence permit for at least one year in Germany. Both papers should be submitted with the application.
