I am about to quit my scientific position and start CFD day trading. I need to change my resident permit from § 18 to § 21 AufenthG. Should I apply via chamber of commerce or immigration office?

In order to set up a business in Germany, you usually need a residence permit for the purpose of self-employment (“Aufenthaltserlaubnis zur Ausübung einer selbständigen Tätigkeit”). Therefore, please get in touch with your competent foreigners’ authority (“Ausländerbehörde”) to clarify your residence status and what conditions need to be met to obtain a residence permit according to § 21 AufenthG.
